Press Release
4iG Group divests its terrestrial broadcasting and infrastructure company
- 4iG Telecommunications Holding Plc. is divesting its 100% ownership stake in 4iG Broadcasting Infrastructure Ltd., the company that owns and operates Hungary’s nationwide terrestrial broadcasting network. The buyer is Pro-M Professional Mobile and Network Services Ltd.
- As a result of the transaction, the provision of nationwide terrestrial radio and television broadcasting will become exclusively state-owned, along with the critical infrastructure required for this activity — comprising a total of 137 sites, including 90 company-owned transmission towers — as well as the operation of the National Air Raid Alert System.
- The transaction is in line with the objectives set out in Government Decree 410/2024 (XII. 20.), which requires that state-mandated telecommunications and broadcasting infrastructures ensure the continuous, high-availability operation of public service broadcasting, population alert systems, and emergency communications under unified management.
- With the divestment of the company, 4iG Group takes another step toward streamlining its telecommunications infrastructure portfolio, focusing on assets that align with its core business activities.

4iG Broadcasting Infrastructure Ltd. provides analogue radio broadcasting (AM and FM) and digital television broadcasting (DVB-T, DVB-T2) through its nationwide terrestrial network. Its partners include national public service and commercial broadcasters, as well as regional and local channels. The company owns critical infrastructure consisting of 137 sites in total, including 90 transmission towers in its own ownership.
All of this plays a key role in public alerting and emergency communication. Its portfolio includes several major facilities,
among them the Széchenyi Hill National Microwave Centre (OMK), which serves as the central hub for the transmission and distribution
of television and radio broadcasts. The company also owns the medium-wave radio transmission station and tower in Solt, which
provides broadcasting coverage for the entire Carpathian Basin. The portfolio also includes the Tárnok measurement station, which analyses the quality parameters of various FM transmitters, and measures and records the signal levels and bandwidths of DVB-T/T2
channels. The station also receives and processes data from multiple remotely controlled measurement sites. It has an important international
function as well, serving as Hungary’s monitoring station for the AMOS satellite on behalf of SpaceCom and IAI.
The company also operates the National Air Raid Warning System owned by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority
(NMHH), which is capable of reaching the entire population through emergency messages broadcast of M1 television and Kossuth
Radio across all TV and radio frequencies. In crisis situations, the network plays a key role in disaster management, defence
operations, and public communication. The transaction completes the consolidation of government-purpose telecommunications
networks, as mandated by last year’s government decision (Government Decree 410/2024 (XII. 20.)). The unification of critical communications infrastructures enhances system security, eliminates parallel capacities, and ensures that essential
state services – from public service broadcasting to emergency communications – operate with the highest possible availability.
Following the change of ownership, the company will continue to guarantee uninterrupted access to the always-free mindigTV service, available without subscription fees or loyalty commitments. Its premium, extended version will continue to be offered through One Hungary.
