One Macedonia and Ericsson sign letter of intent to build one of the region’s first 5G standalone networks
Strategic cooperation marks a milestone in 4iG’s investment plans in North Macedonia and confirms commitment to European digital and security standards.

Skopje, 29 September 2025 – One Macedonia, a subsidiary of 4iG Group, has signed a preliminary agreement with Ericsson Telecommunications
Macedonia, outlining strategic cooperation on the planning, design, equipment supply, and deployment of one of the first 5G
Standalone (SA) mobile networks in the Western Balkans.
This agreement signals a firm step forward in One Macedonia’s ambition to become a leading telecom operator in North Macedonia,
and underlines 4iG’s long-term commitment to investing in advanced digital infrastructure fully aligned with European standards.
The partnership with Ericsson, one of Europe’s most trusted telecom vendors, reflects the shared vision of building a secure,
innovative, and future-proof network that supports both national competitiveness and the broader EU digital agenda.
The 5G SA network to be deployed is envisioned as a greenfield project — designed from the ground up with the most advanced
technological architecture, incorporating Radio Access Network (RAN) and core network components fully compliant with both
domestic and EU security requirements. This will allow One Macedonia to deliver a next-generation connectivity experience
to users across the country, from individual consumers to enterprises and public institutions.
“This partnership with Ericsson is not just about building a mobile network. It’s about building trust, transparency, and
the digital future of North Macedonia. With this agreement, we are one step closer to delivering a world-class 5G network,
created in line with European security standards and with the needs of Macedonian citizens and institutions at its core. We
are proud to work with a globally respected European partner as we take this next bold step” - stated Brano Djurović, CEO of One Macedonia.
Antonio Passarella, Head of Central Europe & Northern Balkans, Ericsson, said: “By combining our global expertise in 5G Standalone with One Macedonia’s ambition to build a future-ready infrastructure,
we are setting the foundation for a secure, innovative, and sustainable digital ecosystem in the country. Together, we aim
to deliver reliable, high-performance connectivity strengthening North Macedonia’s competitiveness and aligning with Europe’s
digital agenda.”
The LOI confirms that the new 5G SA network will aim to launch services in at least one city by the end of 2026, expand along
transport corridors by 2028, reach all urban areas by 2030, and ensure every citizen has access to a minimum of 100 Mbps internet
speed by 2032. The planned cooperation with Ericsson comes at a strategically important time, as One Macedonia awaits the
final decision on the national spectrum tender, expected in early November. As part of the 4iG Group, a publicly listed company
on the Budapest Stock Exchange with operations across Hungary, Albania, and Montenegro, One Macedonia benefits from the stability,
experience, and European orientation of one of the region’s fastest-growing telecommunications groups. 4iG is widely recognized
for its leadership in secure infrastructure development and its commitment to the digital transformation of the Western Balkans.
