Acquisition completed – PR-Telecom to become part of the 4iG Group

Press Release

Acquisition completed – PR-Telecom to become part of the 4iG Group

  •  In July 2024, 4iG Távközlési Holding Zrt., a subsidiary of 4iG Nyrt., signed a purchase agreement to acquire PR-Telecom Zrt., which has significant regional coverage.
  • Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) approved the transaction in July year, subject to strict conditions. Following the fulfillment of the legal and financial closing conditions, the transaction has been completed today, and PR-Telecom Zrt. became 100% owned by 4iG Távközlési Holding.
  • Through this acquisition, 4iG Group further strengthens its prominent position in the Hungarian telecommunications sector, expanding its customer base and infrastructure as well.
  • The change of ownership will not affect the continuity of the services provided by PR-Telecom Zrt. Customers can continue to use the company's services in their current form.

According to an announcement published on the Budapest Stock Exchange website, the transaction for the acquisition of PR-Telecom Zrt. has been completed, resulting in 4iG Távközlési Holding Zrt. acquiring a 100% ownership stake in the regional telecommunications service provider. With a history spanning more than 25 years, Hungarian-owned PR-Telecom Plc. operates a network that reaches 236,000 households across nearly 200 towns and villages in 10 counties. The company serves over 50,000 subscribers with its fixed-line services, including television, internet, and telephone. As a result of the acquisition, 4iG Group significantly expanded its fixed-line infrastructure: the transaction added nearly 3,800 kilometers of network to the group’s assets, including approximately 1,000 kilometers of optical backbone and 800 kilometers of optical access network segments. The acquisition enables 4iG Group to reduce the need for time- and resource-intensive network expansion investments in certain service areas while further reinforcing its leading position in the fixed-line segment. In the future, the transaction also opens the possibility of introducing convergent packages that combine fixed-line and mobile subscriptions, offering PR-Telecom customers a broad range of high-quality services. PR-Telecom former owners will continue to play a role in the company’s management. Marina Szunyoghné Fojt will remain Chief Executive Officer, while Zoltán Fojt will continue as Chief Operating Officer.
