Martin Molnár to compete in British Formula 3 this year - 22 January 2026

Press Release

Martin Molnár to compete in British Formula 3 this year

Young talent takes next step with title sponsorship of 4iG Group and One Hungary

After two seasons in the British Formula 4, Martin Molnár is stepping up a category and competes in GB3, British Formula 3 championship, in the 2026 season. The extension of the partnership with 4iG Group and One Hungary marks another milestone in the young driver’s career. As a result, last year’s third-place finisher in the British F4 championship will race with Rodin Motorsport, the team that produced the championship-winning driver for the past three years and secured the teams’ title in the last two seasons.

Martin already began getting acquainted with his new team last autumn and completed test sessions at five different racetracks. His performance impressed both Rodin’s engineers and Pál Tamás Kiss, Head of Motorsport at Motorsport Talent Management (MOTAM), who oversees Martin’s career from the very first test, as he immediately adapted to the significantly more powerful and faster GB3 car compared to an F4 machine. This was naturally reflected in the lap times: on the second day of testing, the 17-year-old Hungarian driver was already pushing last year’s champion Alex Ninovic, and later at Spa, on a circuit completely new to him, he was only marginally slower than Deagen Fairclough, who won the British F4 title in 2023 with a record number of victories and went on to complete a full season in GB3 last year.

As for this year’s GB3 race calendar, the series is only British in name, as the events are hosted across five different countries, including Hungary. This means Martin will be able to line up on the grid in his home environment for the first time in his career. In addition to the Hungaroring, four other Formula 1 venues—Spa, Barcelona, Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring—are part of the calendar, giving opportunity to gain experience on circuits where they hope to compete later in their careers. The first race weekend will take place at Silverstone between April 23 and 26, and the full 2026 race calendar is available HERE.

Martin and the rest of the field will compete in the Tatuus-built car introduced for the 2025 season. From this year, due to increased engine output, the car now produces over 300 horsepower. Its aerodynamic characteristics are inspired by modern Formula 1 cars, and for the first time in the history of the series, it features an adjustable rear wing, or DRS, while delivering significantly higher downforce compared to the previous model. Further developments for this season are expected to enable even faster lap times. Like in Formula 1, the tyres are supplied by Pirelli.

Although everything will be new for the Hungarian driver, unlike in British F4, there will be no ‘learning year’ for him in GB3, as the plan is to spend just one season in this championship and, if all goes well, step up to FIA Formula 3 in 2027, which is run as a support series at Formula 1 race weekends.

“We are consciously building and moving forward, in parallel with Martin’s development. We believe it makes sense to move up a category only if the previous one has been outgrown. That is exactly the case now,” pointed out Tamás Őry, Managing Director of MOTAM. “In our view, the gap between Formula 4 and the FIA Formula 3 championship is so large that an intermediate step is necessary. The two strongest series to fill that role are Formula Regional—where, among others, Andrea Kimi Antonelli competed after F4 before making his Formula 1 debut with Mercedes last year—and GB3, which is considered British Formula 3. In the latter, we were able to secure a deal with the absolute top team, the incredibly professional Rodin Motorsport, and our goal is to fight for podium finishes and then move up to FIA Formula 3 after this season.”

“It is an advantage that four race weekends are held in England, where Martin already gained local knowledge and competed on all three circuits, and we are also pleased that all the non-UK venues are circuits that host Formula 1 races as well. This means Martin can begin learning these tracks and gaining experience on them too. Another important thing is that we finally have a home race, as the lineup competes at the Hungaroring in early July, where Martin will be racing his single-seater in front of the Hungarian audience for the first time.”

“The tests carried out so far have confirmed that Martin adapted very quickly to a car that is more powerful and faster than an F4, and that he is competitive. We have also seen that the corporate culture at Rodin Motorsport is one we enjoy working with and where Martin enjoys racing. We are very optimistic and ambitious, and both sides are highly motivated. To take this step, the title sponsorship support of our strategic partners, 4iG Group and One Hungary, was essential, for which I would like to express my gratitude.”

“Our cooperation with Martin goes far beyond title sponsorship; it is a genuine strategic partnership based on shared values and long-term thinking,” said Tamás Bányai, CEO of One Hungary. “We believe that future successes are built by talented, determined young people, and we are proud to support the international career of a Hungarian race driver. Martin’s attitude, development path and performance-oriented mindset are perfectly aligned with the values of both 4iG Group and One Hungary, making the renewal of our partnership an obvious decision.”

“I’m really looking forward to the start of the season, I think it’s going to be a very exciting year,” said Martin Molnár. “It became clear during last autumn’s tests that we can work very well with Rodin Motorsport—we quickly found a good rhythm together, and the team is very professional and composed. The car was already incredibly enjoyable to drive during the tests, and further developments are planned for this year, which will hopefully make it even better. Before the season starts at the end of April, I still have several tests ahead, where we will continue preparing for the season.”

“Last year, on one of my F4 races in England, I looked to the side before the start and saw a Hungarian flag in the stands. It felt great, and based on that, I can’t even imagine what it will be like to line up on the grid in front of a home crowd in a single-seater for the first time in my life. It’s going to be very special, and of course I am most looking forward to the Hungarian weekend. Regarding the season, I am optimistic: although moving up a category always comes with challenges, I have gained a lot of experience over the past two years, which will certainly help me. Moreover, during last autumn’s tests, we immediately showed competitive pace, so I expect this will continue without any issues.”

“We are very pleased to welcome Martin to the Rodin Motorsport team for the 2026 GB3 season,” welcomed the Hungarian driver Benn Huntingford, Sporting Director at Rodin Motorsport. “Based on his strong performance and mature racing mindset, we are confident that he can continue to develop in this environment while participating in high-level competitions. We are excited to see how he unfolds within the team.”

“Martin’s third-place finish in last year’s British F4 season clearly reflects his talent and dedication. We are convinced that he has all the necessary qualities to successfully step up to the GB3 category. We look forward to working together and hope to achieve outstanding results as a team,” added Ricky Taylor, Team Manager of Rodin’s GB3 squad.
