4iG Group and SpaceX establish Europe’s first agreement to launch Starlink Mobile and sovereign solutions - 02 September 2026

Press Release

4iG Group and SpaceX establish Europe’s first agreement to launch Starlink Mobile and sovereign solutions

This collaboration sets a new industry standard in Europe

  • The agreements were signed in Texas by Gellért Jászai, Chairman and CEO of 4iG, and Gwynne Shotwell, President and Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX.
  • 4iG Group is targeted to launch the first-generation Starlink Mobile commercial service. In the future, it will be followed by its next-generation Starlink Mobile V2 technology that will use SpaceX’s global 2GHz spectrum rights, enabling 5G non-terrestrial network capabilities.
  • Starlink Mobile will complement 4iG Group’s telecommunications companies in Hungary and the Western Balkans in areas with limited or no terrestrial network coverage. The service will also keep customers connected during emergencies and temporary outages of mobile infrastructure.
  • The agreement will deliver satellite communication services called Sovereign Solutions, which provides secure satellite networks designed for national security.

4iG Group and SpaceX have signed landmark agreements to provide resilient connectivity in Europe. Starlink Mobile will strengthen 4iG Group’s telecommunications services in Hungary and the Western Balkans, while the Sovereign Solutions agreement will support the development of sovereign and secure satellite communications capabilities at a national level.

Together, the two companies create a collaboration model that is unique in Europe, combining commercial satellite-to-mobile connectivity with satellite technology for Sovereign Solutions communications.

The agreement is well aligned with 4iG Group’s existing profile spanning telecommunications, space and defence technologies, and represents an innovation-driven breakthrough for the Group.

“Today’s announcement underscores the importance of making connectivity ubiquitous for everyone. 4iG Group and SpaceX developed a first-of-its kind model that represents a commercial service with Starlink’s satellite-to-mobile technology and establishing the first Sovereign Solutions in Europe. We are proud to be leading this vision in Europe and setting a new global standard of what’s possible,”
said Gellért Jászai, Chairman and CEO of 4iG Group.

“4iG Group's forward-leaning adoption of Starlink Mobile, including our next-gen V2 constellation technology, will deliver resilient direct-to-device connectivity to people across Hungary and the Western Balkans. V2 will enable high-speed broadband directly to mobile phones and harmonize the
2GHz spectrum we’ll use around the world. We’re thrilled to forge this relationship with 4iG Group, as it positions Hungary as an early adopter of Sovereign Solutions for Europe,” – said Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO of SpaceX

STARLINK MOBILE: COMPLEMENTING ONE HUNGARY’S MOBILE NETWORKS

Starlink Mobile:

Starlink, the world’s largest satellite-to-mobile constellation in low-Earth orbit, enables a direct connection to LTE compatible mobile phones, without requiring dedicated satellite equipment. By complementing terrestrial mobile networks, satellite connectivity makes mobile communications available in areas where conventional network coverage is limited or unavailable.

4iG Group will launch the commercial service in Hungary and Albania. These two countries will join several other markets worldwide where the service is available today to millions of people across six continents. The technology improves the availability of mobile communications particularly in mountainous areas and coastal waters. The rollout schedule will depend on the regulatory, technical and commercial conditions in each market.

Starlink Mobile’s resilient connectivity will also support 4iG Group’s customers during emergencies and temporary outages and enable communications for public services and critical infrastructure operations.

Starlink Mobile V2:

This collaboration in the future will incorporate Starlink Mobile V2, its next generation technology operating on SpaceX's global 2GHz priority rights. The service will launch in Hungary, Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia. 4iG Group is paving a path forward in advancing terrestrial and satellite mobile communications in the EU to enable millions of people to access resilient connectivity in remote and underserved areas.

Through a multi-country rollout, 4iG Group is set to become one of Europe’s front-runners in the deployment of Starlink Mobile services.

SOVEREIGN SOLUTIONS: SECURE SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS

Through Sovereign Solutions 4iG S&D and SpaceX will develop an integrated service with augmented satellite communications and end-to-end secured data communications. Scheduled to launch next year, the service will provide broadband connectivity and secure sovereign network infrastructure.
