4iG Group acquires Netfone Telecom

The telecommunication portfolio expands with a nationwide virtual mobile operator

  • 4iG Telecommunication Holding Ltd., the holding company of 4iG Group telecom portfolio signed a sale and purchase agreement to acquire 99 per cent of the shares in Netfone Telecom a fast-growing nationwide virtual mobile operator.
  • The purpose of the transaction is to expand the Group’s customer base and thus further strengthen its position in the Hungarian telecommunications market.
  • Netfone Telecom Kft. is fully owned by Hungarians. The company has approximately 100,000 customers, 400 sales partners across the country, and over 200 resale shops within its so-called ‘GSM’ network.
  • Netfone Telecom Kft.’s customers will not be affected by the change of ownership and will continue to benefit seamlessly from the telecommunications company’s services.
  • The transaction is subject to the approval of the Hungarian Competition Authority.

4iG Telecommunication Holding Ltd. entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire 99 per cent stake in Netfone Telecom Kft., a nationwide mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).

The cooperation is in line with the international telecommunication trends and embodies a secure and effictive strategic partnership for the future. The MVNO and the network providing MNO functions are going to be integrated by the partnership.

As One Hungary’s wholesale partner, Netfone Telecom Kft. will use the Group network infrastructure to provide its services. Following closing of the transaction, the cooperation between the parties continues within 4iG Group. This acquisition introduces a customer-centric, agile, and efficient service provider to 4iG telecommunications portfolio. Netfone Telecom’s experience, spanning over 10 years and the customer base will create new opportunities for service development.

Netfone Telecom Kft. managed to secure leading position in the Hungarian MVNO market during recent years. The company developed its own branded SIM cards, competitive tariffs, and digitally optimized customer service. The primary target group consists of individuals and small businesses that require simple, swift, online or personalized, trust-based, efficient customer care. The intended audience of Netfone are price-sensitive, value-for-money customers with a preference for fast, transparent, and paperless transactions.

Two of Netfone special brands, Rockmobil and Pettel, offer unique, innovative solutions providing ongoing support for national culture and animal welfare. Due to the company’s consistently updated and people-oriented communication, highly competitive customer service standards, and extensive partner network, Netfone has experienced significant customer growth in recent years, currently managing 106,000 SIM cards and employing a staff of 72 people.

Following the acquisition, Netfone Telecom Kft. will continue to operate as a standalone company, while 4iG Group will provide network infrastructure, technological support, and financial stability necessary for its operations. Netfone Telecom customers will experience no disruption in services due to the transaction.

The transaction may be closed after approval by by the Hungarian Competition Authority.
